The Pinellas County Health Department in Florida has announced four dates in which the organization will host free dental care clinics for patients aged 4 to 18 years old. The oral hygiene campaign was launched to provide dental care services to areas families who have little or dental insurance, according to ABCActionNews.com.
To qualify for services, individuals must reside in Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough County. All patients must be accompanied by a parent, and bring social security cards, proof of residency and income as well as verification of all household expenses and any disabilities.
Local dentists and volunteers will provide dental exams, x-rays and some tooth extractions, depending on the severity of dental problem, the department's website reports.
Maggie Hall, a spokesperson for the health department, told the news source that "there is a great need for kids to get the care they need especially before school starts."
Families and individuals who attend free dental care clinics may also benefit from researching dental discount plans. By signing up for an affordable program, these patients will be able to make regular dentist appointments and receive treatments ranging from oral exams to surgical procedures.
