Those who are dedicated to dental health know that every month is full of opportunities to create a brighter smile.
However, the American Dental Hygienists' Association is reminding people that October is National Dental Hygiene month, which could be the perfect time to celebrate the role of oral care in our lives.
This year, the chosen theme is "A Healthy Smile Lasts a Lifetime" and will touch on elements that affect every age group, from babies to the elderly.
New to this year's festivities, the month will feature particular themes - one changing on a weekly or biweekly basis - that draw attention to the role of hygienists in promoting and maintaining dental health.
The first week will be focused on hygienist appreciation, while the second and third encourage dental workers to get involved with local community service events.
Finally, for the fourth week the ADHA suggests that current members take a potential member to lunch in order to better publicize opportunities within the organization.
The ADHA has more than 120,000 members throughout the United States.
