Dental health is important for people of all ages, and dentists have been changing their offices to suit a wider range of patients. For example, the Press Democrat, a California news source, reported on orthodontist Rael Bernstein in Santa Rosa, whose office has two waiting rooms - one with an Xbox and iPods in it for kids, while the other has a coffee bar, newspapers and CNN on TV for older patients.
According to the dental health professional, he adjusted his office after noticing that it wasn't just kids he was putting braces on anymore, but patients well into their 80s who were looking for this type of dental work as well.
"A lot of people think braces are just for teenagers," Bernstein told the Press Democrat. "We've had grandparents and grandkids in treatment at the same time, in a race to see who gets their braces off first."
According to an article published in The New York Times, the number of American adults over the age of 18 with braces jumped from 680,000 annually to 1.1 million from 1994 to 2010.
