It's important for individuals to follow a proper dental care routine that involves brushing, flossing, using mouthwash and visiting the dentist on a regular basis. Unfortunately, not everyone does this, which is why many Americans are suffering from dental problems. Recently, the company Plackers, which sells oral products, conducted a survey to determine why many Americans do not floss.
According to WebMD, a 2008 survey found that only 49 percent of Americans floss daily, and 10 percent never floss at all. Plackers reported that the main reason people gave for not flossing was that they forget, and 30 percent said that it was because they never had floss handy when they need it.
Furthermore, among people who do floss, many said that they had issues with floss breaking. While this may be an issue, there are many types of floss available on the market that people can buy that will not break. It's important for individuals to make the technique part of their regular dental care routine, since floss can remove plaque that brushing misses.
