As Halloween approaches, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD)is taking time to encourage parents to pay special attention to their children's teeth in the weeks leading up to this sugar-packed holiday. According to the AAPD, one of the simplest things parents can do to ensure that their children have a healthy mouth is make sure that they brush their teeth for two minutes, twice every day.
The AAPD recently joined up with the Ad Council to launch a campaign encouraging parents to make sure that their child understands the importance of preventative dental measures.
"This first-of-its-kind campaign unifies dozens of dental organizations around a common message and raises the awareness of children and their parents about the importance of oral health, which is critical, and desperately needs attention on Halloween, and every single day of the year," said Joel Berg, D.D.S., president of the AAPD.
The organization recommends that parents watch their children brush to make sure they are doing it properly until they are at least 8 years old.
