All people, regardless of who they are or where they are from, need to take care of their dental health. This is why it is important to have dental health awareness campaigns that are aimed at individuals from all backgrounds. For example, The Hispanic Dental Association Foundation (HDAF) recently announced that they are teaming up with Oral B and Crest to examine ways to promote proper dental care habits among the Hispanic community.
According to a 2011 survey led by the HDAF, the majority of U.S. Hispanics reported that they believe they could greatly benefit from more information about dental health, access to affordable dental care and Hispanic or Spanish-speaking dentists.
"The experts agreed that while dental professionals may serve on the front line of oral health care, it is up to the entire community to take a more active role to ensure Hispanics have meaningful short- and long-term access to good oral care and education," said Sarita Arteaga, D.M.D, and spokesperson for the HDAF.
The researchers noted that Hispanics are one of the fastest-growing populations in the U.S. This is one of the many reasons why it is particularly important for these individuals to have access to information on dental health and access to affordable dental care.
