Individuals who are on Medicaid may sometimes find themselves struggling to gain access to affordable dental care. For example, KSTP, a Minnesota news source, recently published an article detailing how the recent closure of the Midwest Dental Clinic has left many Medicaid recipients in the Minnesota area wondering how they will receive dental care.
According to the news source, 500 Medicaid patients who used the clinic must now find a new clinic that accepts medical assistance. Mike Perpich, D.D.S., who treated many of those patients at the clinic, told the information provider that most dentists in the area are not accepting any new medical assistance patients, so these individuals are left with few places to turn to for their dental needs.
Luckily for this population, there are other ways to find affordable dental care. For example, WorlDental.com published an article in which it suggests that individuals without traditonal dental insurance look into discount dental plans, which can help people save 20 to 60 percent on basic dental treatments.
No one should be denied dental care because they cannot afford it, which is why many dentists accept discount dental plans.
