Orthodontist teaches kids about dental health  

While there's a lot of information out there that teaches parents about the importance of maintaining their child's oral health, it's also important to make sure that kids understand why it's necessary to keep their teeth clean. Recently, The Times Herald, a Michigan news source, reported on how one local orthodontist is helping to educate kids about dental care.

Orthodontist Christopher Brieden invited a local third-grade class to come to his office and learn about some of the basics of oral care. For more than a decade, Brieden has paid for bus fare so that students can have the opportunity to come to his facility to learn about teeth.

"I liked it because they are teaching you why you should brush your teeth and what's gonna happen if you don't brush your teeth," said third-grader Kendell Lindsay, quoted by the news source. "You're gonna lose your teeth because they're gonna rot. And once you lose your permanent teeth, you won't get any more."

The National Institutes of Health states that forming good habits at a young can help children maintain proper oral care for the rest of their lives.
