Atlanta dental centers donate to MLK Memorial Project Foundation

Dental centers recognize MLK In recognition of Martin Luther King Day this past January 17, a chain of dental centers in Atlanta will donate 5 percent of its locations' revenue made on the holiday to the Martin Luther King Memorial Project Foundation.

Commenting on the $15,000 donation, Richard Beckman, CEO of GEDC, said, "we are focused on providing access to quality dentistry at convenient times for our valued patients. Thanks to our dedicated dental teams in Atlanta, all of our offices were open on Monday to serve the community."

Traditionally, Martin Luther King Day has served as an opportunity for professional organizations, businesses and schools to recognize King's work.

GEDC's announcement highlights the particular need for increased dental care in low-income communities in both King's native Atlanta and nationwide.

The American Dental Association (ADA) stresses the importance of regular dental visits for children to protect their oral health. For some low-income and uninsured families, this is not always a viable option.

To this end, the ADA founded the Give Kids a Smile program, which, on February 4 each year, offers free dental care to needy children nationwide.
