Dental health instrument manufacturer honors today's committed dental hygienists

Dental health instrument manufacturer honors today At the end of February, Hu-Friedy, a manufacturer of dental health instruments, acknowledged the efforts of two dental hygienists by sponsoring their trip to the Chicago Dental Society's Midwinter Meeting. The three-day event introduces new product innovations and educates professionals on cutting-edge dental services.

To decide who to send, officials with Hu-Friedy conducted a contest to identify the most dedicated members of the dental community. Approximately 100 dental hygienists submitted essays describing the reasons that they deserved to attend the meeting and the benefits that they expected to receive from being selected.

"Dental hygienists play such an important role in preventive oral health," said Ron Saslow, president and CEO of Hu-Friedy. "Year after year they conscientiously attend to the dental health needs of their patients and passionately pursue continuing education."

The winners of the contest were Lesa Crane, local coordinator of the dental hygiene program at Germanna Community College in Locust Grove, Virginia, and Debby Kurtz-Weidinger, dental hygienist at the Carl Hayden VA Medical Center Dental Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.

Regular visits to the dentist can help prevent avoidable dental health problems, such as infection, tooth decay, and cardiovascular disease, according to the American Dental Association.
