Newspaper: Don't want to look old? Get dental care

Good dental care can not only help with one's overall health, but it can enhance a person's outward appearance as well.

However, certain things like grinding one's teeth and using tobacco products can harm the appearance of one's teeth and may cause a person to look older than their actual age.

The Baltimore Sun suggests that people interested in cosmetic dentistry should first visit their dentist to ensure they don't have a preexisting condition that may be aggravated through teeth whitening.

The news provider cites two ways a dentist can help a person remove unwanted stains from their mouth: coating a person's teeth with a bleaching solution or using veneers or crowns.

However, there are also ways people can whiten their teeth at home, such as over-the-counter whitening strips or whitening toothpaste. The Sun stresses to check for labels citing the American Dental Association approval on any products.

The advice to people about cosmetic dentistry may be particularly timely since President Obama recently stated the unemployment situation in the country would continue into next year. This may convince more people to enhance their smile when going out on job interviews.
