 September Williamson has recovered her smile, thanks to a generous cosmetic dentist.
According to a report on KKCO in Colorado, Williamson had to use superglue to cement in her false teeth, because she couldn't afford the cosmetic dentistry, even though she had dental insurance. When her story was broadcast in March, it provoked an outpouring of support, and eventually a cosmetic surgeon in Los Angeles stepped in to help.
After 40 hours of dental work, Williamson had a brand new smile.
"My kids have never really seen me smile," said Williamson of herself before the surgery. Now, she told the TV station she can't stop. "My son made the comment, 'Mom, I love your new smile, you smile so much more now.' So, it's made a big difference not just in my life, but the people around me."
Williamson told the news provider that she is hoping her story will spark change in the health care system, and allow others access to the dental care they need.
"There are thousands, even hundreds of thousands out there that have the same problem," Williamson said, forced to make a choice between taking care of her teeth and taking care of her children.
