Gum brand donates money to dental health initiative

Gum brand donates money to dental health initiative Trident has pledged $1.5 million to a dental health program that aims to provide dental care to children without dental insurance or whose families are not able to afford to pay for such care.

The gum brand said that it is giving the money to Smiles Across America over the next three years, which will effectively double the number of participants served by the initiative.

In previous years, Trident has partnered with Smiles Across America to promote the importance of dental hygiene and provide access to dental care for schoolchildren.

"Through our combined efforts, we can raise public awareness about the importance of oral health and proactively provide education and services to those who need it most," commented Beth Truett of Oral Health America, which operates the program.

Figures cited by Trident state that tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease in America, with around half of all first-graders suffering from this dental health problem.

The World Health Organization has also drawn attention to tooth decay as a dental health problem on a global scale.

As part of its commitment, Trident said it would also be producing a documentary focusing on children's dental health, as well as focusing advertising resources on dental hygiene education for SAA clinics.
