(ARA) - It's probably safe to say no one is happy about hair loss, but for women, thinning hair can be emotionally devastating. Our appearance-oriented culture still idealizes a woman's hair as her "crowning glory."
Online message boards abound with first-hand accounts of women whose hair loss has affected all aspects of their lives -- from personal relationships and professional growth, to their self esteem and even their will to live. While many factors, both physical and emotional, may contribute to hair loss, that slow thinning at the crown or temples, or a receding hairline, is most often a hereditary condition caused by genetic sensitivity to the presence of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp.
"DHT is one of the main drivers of hair loss," says Dr. Alex Khadavi, a board-certified dermatologist and hair-loss expert. Naturally found in males and females, DHT plays a key role in sexual libido for both men and women. Some people, however, have a genetic propensity for DHT to "attack" hair follicles, especially those on the top of the head. Over time, DHT causes the follicles to produce thinner, shorter and weaker hair and eventually stops hair from growing altogether.
While genetically related hair loss is more often associated with men, women have suffered from it as well throughout history. In women, hair loss is diffused and affects the entire scalp. Traditionally, their solution has been to cover up their thinning hair with creative styling or by using wigs. But these are often ineffective, costly and uncomfortable options that do nothing to stop further hair loss.
"As recently as 20 years ago, there was little medical science could do to halt the loss of hair due to hereditary factors," Khadavi says. "Today, it is possible to find effective natural remedies for hair loss."
Many hair loss treatments specifically target men suffering from the problem. But Khadavi has developed Revivogen, a line of products designed to reduce production of DHT and help control hair loss. Specially formulated, all-natural scalp therapy, shampoo and conditioner products work in concert to inhibit DHT and promote hair regrowth in women as well as men.
"Hair loss for women may get less attention because women's hair loss is diffused compared to men who develop bald spots, but for women the emotional impact of thinning hair can be more devastating," Khadavi says.
There is new hope for women suffering from hair loss. Go to www.revivogen.com to try a 3-month supply of Revivogen Scalp Therapy, Shampoo and Conditioner for the introductory price of just $89. You’ll also get free shipping when you enter coupon code rev0.
