Living with Arthritis? Omega-3 Can Help, Studies Show
Updated: 6/5/2008 6:00:20 PM
(ARA) - Statistically speaking, your chances of developing arthritis as you age are about one in four.  Live past 65 and the likelihood of being diagnosed with arthritis by your doctor climbs to 50 percent.

These are the findings of a recent National Health Interview Survey published by the National Center for Health Statistics.  That's 46 million Americans living with chronic pain, which often keeps them from the activities they love.

With recent headlines pointing to several popular pain relievers as the source of other serious health issues, some arthritis sufferers may feel it's safer to just bear the pain.  But a growing body of evidence suggests there's a safer, all-natural alternative.  Omega-3 has been shown to prevent the inflammation, stiffness, and discomfort associated with arthritis.

Studies show that Omega-3 fatty acids reduce the need for anti-inflammatory drugs, according to an analysis by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  University of Maryland Medical Center researchers also analyzed 17 clinical trials and concluded that "Omega-3 fatty acids are effective treatment, along with conventional therapies … for joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis."

Omega-3 is an essential nutrient that our bodies cannot produce - it is only found in fatty fish and fish oil.  Data suggests that as much as 99 percent of the American population is deficient in Omega-3, and that deficiency has been linked to joint inflammation.

Interestingly, Canadian researchers reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology that survey participants from Asian cultures - whose diets are rich in fish - showed lower incidences of arthritis than people of other ethnic backgrounds.

"You don't have to be a scientist to see the link between our high rates of arthritis and nutritional deficiencies," says Roy Bingham, co-founder of NourishLife.  "That's why we have even gone so far as to offer free samples on our website.  Omega-3 is that important."

"Both of my parents have lived with severe arthritis pain," continued Bingham.  "And I think that it's tragic when people suffer if they don't have to."

Omega-3 can help combat inflammation and arthritis pain, without any side effects.  For a limited time, NourishLife is offering savings up to 45 percent for readers when they visit www.PharmaOmega.com.
