Everyone wants to save money whenever they can. One place that people love to save money is at the dentist. Fortunately, there is a very simple way to do this, participate in a discount dental plan.

Routine and Mild Dental Procedures Savings

The first reason why people participate in a discount dental plan is to save at the dentist on most routine dental care services for their family. On average, a routine 6 month dental check up costs about $43, however, select discount dental plan participants are charged $0 for the check up. In depth check ups cost the average dental patient about $69, however, plan participants on some discount dental plans get this service for free as well. Finally, if the patient needs a filling, which costs an estimated $135, and they have a discount dental plan, then they will only be charged according to their plan's fee schedule - usually about $84. As you can see, if you have a discount dental plan, then you can save from 10% to 60% on your routine dental care.

Advanced Dental Procedures Savings

In addition to saving at the dentist on routine care, people also are interested in dental care savings on more expensive procedures. Sample savings that participants in discount dental plans can receive are as follows:

* Porcelain on Noble Metal Crown normally costs $981, with a plan it may only cost $690.

* Root canal on front tooth normally costs $636, with a plan it may only cost $420.

* Root canal on molar normally $919, with a plan it may only cost $614.

* Full upper dental plat normally $1,353, with a plan it may only cost $910.

* Tooth extraction, simple normally $138 per tooth, with a plan it may only cost plan $83.

(Please note that the sample discounts listed above are only examples. Discounts may vary by plan, ZIP code, and participating provider.)
