The jar contains gentle, stabilized Magnesium Peroxide (whitener) and Aluminum Trihydroxide (polisher) that is ''activated'' by the formula-filled swabs. The Powder: Magnesium Peroxide releases oxygen slowly in contact with atmospheric moisture, and scrubs away stains safely and effectively. It is also used as a disinfectant in cosmetics, toothpaste and pharmaceuticals.
